Lebanese Armed Forces

The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) is the military of the Republic of Lebanon. It consists of three branches, the army, the air force and the navy. The armed forces consist of 87,000 active personnel with the ground force consisting of approximately 80,000 troops, the air force 2000 personnel and 5,000 in the naval force. The LAF Command is headquartered at Yarzeh. The organizational structure of the LAF Command includes:

The Lebanese Air Force (LAF) is the aerial warfare branch of the Lebanese Armed Forces. The Lebanese Air Force was established in 1949 under the command of then-Lieutenant Colonel Emile Boustany who later became commander of the army. 
The Air Force was established on 10/6/1949 in Rayak airbase under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Emile Boustany. The Unit had several names such as the Force of the Air and the Air Defense Force and was finally named the Air Force. The Air Force Headquarters was located in Rayak airbase before transferring it to the Ministry of National Defense in 1969 and then to the Bayda building – Ayn el- Rimmeneh in 1989.
The Air Force takes charge of the following missions:
Training pilots and flight technicians
Conducting combat operations and providing air and land support
Conducting transport missions and airborne operations
Conducting search and rescue operations
Aerial surveillance and reconnaissance
Aerial filming
Assisting State Institutions in conducting works such as spraying insecticides and setting up antennas etc…
